A lectotype was designated which replaces the neotype that Weber (1985. Rubi Westfalici. Die Brombeerarten Westfalens und des Raumes Osnabrück [Rubus L., Subgenus Rubus]. Westfälischen Museum für Naturkunde, Münster) selected. Because Müller & Lefèvre quote the specimen of Questier in the same publication (p. 289) as their description of Rubus flexuosus it can be considered as belonging to the specimina authentica:

Lectotype (Gorteria 2014: 185): LAU, Müller, Questier in Billot, Flora Galliae et Germaniae exsiccata nr. 2058: “75. R. pyramidalis Bab. Forêt de Retz, commun, aôut 1856. Lefèvre”.
