Rubus leucandrus Focke

R. ambigens (Boul.) Boul. (lectorype Gorteria 2014: 181, with wrong layout: P, Ass. Rub. nr. 600, Boulay, Nord, Forêt de Saint-Amand, Av. de la Fontaine-Bouillon, 23.7.1883) is identical with R. hermes Matzke-Hajek. After checking many specimens we could not find consistent differences with R. leucandrus Focke and thus we decided to merge both taxa, with R. leucandrus as the correct name. Obviously there is confusion about the identity of R. leucandrus because specimens of R. beijerinckii Meijer have been inserted into it by some authors.
