Rubus ulmifolius Schott

The first publication of Rubus ulmifolius Schott is not in Isis but in the Vaterländische Blätter für den östterreichische Kaiserstat I,11 (7 Februar 1818), p. 42. In the article 'Auszüge aus den Berichten und Briefe der auf befehl Sr. Majestät des Kaisers nach Brasilien abgeschickten österreichisschen Naturforscher an den Direktor des k.k. Hof-Naturkabinette Herrn Karl von Schreibers als Referenten des wissenschaftlichen Anteiles der Expedition', Vaterländische Blatter I,4-6, 37-44, 61-67, a letter that Schott sent from Gibraltar by 17 August 1817 is printed (p. 40-44) wherein he gives the description (p. 42) and refers to an exsiccate (p. 43).

The publication in the Vaterländische Blätter is on 7 February, the issue V of Isis begins with the proceedings of the Académie des Sciences in Paris of July 17 through March 1818 (p. 769) and contains a letter written on 9 July 1818 (p. 915). So the publication must be later in 1818.

The earlier publication does not have any impact on name and status of R. ulmifolius, of course.
